Elaine's Outing, April 23 or so, 2003

Elaine took the camera with her when she was by herself and I was at work, and went on some outings. Here are some pictures of views from and of the hotel:

Little sculpture on the wall at the San Jose church

Elaine walked in the northern part of the old city, toward La Perla, a settlement outside the wall. She didn't actually go into La Perla - according to our guide book it is a ready source of drugs (illegal drugs), and she wasn't interested. Also who knows what else would go on down there! Anyway you can peak at it from inside the wall.

Norzagaray street (north end of old San Juan)

Elaine continued east of la Perla and went by Fort San Cristobal. She didn't tour the fort then - we saw it together later.

Here's a typical street sign in old San Juan - there's no room for sign posts on the corner, so they put the signs right on the buildings. It's very romantical, but they are hard to see when you are driving. Here are also some more miscellaneous pictures:
