Puerto Rico 2003 - The promenade and Bacardi Rum, April 20-21, 2003

On or about April 20, 2003, we walked on the promenade outside the city wall again. Here are three pictures, including the San Jose gate in the day time. San Juan bay and the wall San Jose gate Elaine on the promenade
On April 21, 2003, we went to the Bacardi Rum factory in Cataņo, across the bay from San Juan. We took the ferry to Cataņo (50 cents each), and then a cab to Bacardi (about $7.00). Pictures of the ferry: Our ferry arrives Elaine is about to board the ferry Tugboat in misty San Juan Bay William on the ferry After arrival in Cataņo, Elaine waits for William in the rain
We arrived at Bacardi, and waited at the pavilion for our tour to start. Unfortunately I didn't think to get a long shot of the pavilion itself. It is shaped like a stylized bat, which is significant because a bat is the logo for Bacardi rum. They give you vouchers for two free rum drinks. Rum is a wonderful thing. During the tour we were allowed to take pictures of the outsides of buildings, but none inside the factory or other buildings. The waiting area pavilion Bat sculpture and Nispero tree (?) Don't know what this is, but it looks cool Another shot of the distillery Our cab driver; took us back to the Cataņo ferry
