Puerto Rico 2003 - More Outings

Somewhere after my first week I went to Castillo del Morro. I had passed by it on the way in to Old San Juan from the airport. It's where I saw lots of kites. On my way to the Castillo (fort), I saw this plaza, near the old San Jose church. I think it was the Plaza del Quinto Centenario, but I'm not sure. It had a surprise fountain in it. I couldn't predict when it would start shooting water. Pretty plaza The fountain More fountain Lamb sculpture in the square Piragua vendor near the square (snow cones)
I walked up to the fort, but didn't go in - I waited until Elaine joined me some days later to tour the fort itself. A sign The fort in the distance Getting closer The moat The bridge over the moat
Sometime later, I went to the Centro de Bellas Artes in Santurce (Performing Arts Center), to see a ballet performance. It was a bunch of short pieces choreographed by Ana Garcia, a pioneering Puerto Rican dancer/choreographer. One featured music by a dead white man (Schubert or somebody like that), and the rest were by Puerto Rican composers. Here's the Centro: Centro de Bellas Artes Centro de Bellas Artes
Somewhere in there I got an ear infection! Probably from going to the beach too much - maybe jamming my hearing aid in my ear too soon after getting out of the water. I went to the emergency room at a hospital in the Condado. They told me I'd do better at a clinic at the hospital. So I went to the clinic instead, got really quick service and it hardly cost anything at all. The doctor prescribed two meds which cleared my problem up right away! Here's the emergency entrance: Emergencia
