Post-Elaine Final Adventures
My main "adventure" was working at the new EDS remittance center
in Santurce. They had moved the operation from Citibank PR's
headquarters in Rio Piedras to EDS's own facility. Here are some
pictures from the new facility:
A few days after Elaine left, I tried harder and found directions
to the Santurce Market. It's an old farmer's market - they sell
island fruit and vegetables and some refreshments. I got a fruit
smoothie and a meat pie for $4.00, for an early lunch on my
way to work.
Each month they have "gallery night" in old San Juan. The galleries stay open late, and they have art festivals in the
streets. Here is a replica of a New York City subway car with
graffiti, a big painting, and an artist who sold me the print he is
holding, which features the cobblestones of old San Juan.
I frequently got provisions at Pueblo, a supermarket chain
in Puerto Rico. This store was in Santurce, but I also went
to the store in old San Juan
At some point I went to a little bar named Maria's. I got a great rum
drink there, and this bartender (who was not Maria), sold me some
earrings and a necklace made of sea glass - old bottles worn down
to look like pretty stones by the sea.
