Pacific Northwest April-May 2023

After Tulip Town, we had a lovely lunch in La Conner at Oyster and Thistle. Thank you, Karen and Peg! We explored the Museum of Northwest Art then went on to see Deception Pass.

Thrill seeking kayakers visit here during large tidal changes to surf the standing waves and brave class II and III rapids.

Deception Pass is a strait separating Whidbey Island from Fidalgo Island. It connects Skagit Bay, part of the Puget Sound, with the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Deception Pass is a dramatic seascape where the tidal flow and whirlpools beneath twin bridges move quickly. During ebb and flood tides current speed reaches about 9.2 MPH flowing in opposite directions between ebb and flow.
