Amsterdam May 2023

Early in 2023 we decided to be jetsetters and go to Amsterdam for just a few days to see a once-in-a-lifetime exhibit of Vermeer paintings at the Rijksmuseum. We found a travel deal that was great. So, we drove to Chicago and flew to Amsterdam via Stockholm. We arrived in Amsterdam in time to check in to our hotel, grab a traditional Dutch dinner and collapse into bed.

First stop, Chicago.

Next stop, Stockholm.

Finally boarding our plane to Amsterdam.

The Hotel Albus, our home away from home.

Our street.

Crossing the Groenburqwal, while finding our way to dinner.

Cantilever bridge over the Groenburqwal, which Elaine thought was the bridge known as The Narrow Bridge, until we saw that bridge a couple days later.

We planned to have dinner here at De Sluyswacht, a house built for the lock keeper. But it only served beer and snacks, so we bailed

We settled at a restaurant called Rembrandt Corner, right next to the Rembrandt House museum, where we shared a bowl of split pea soup to start our dinner, while enjoying our beers.

Elaine had traditional Dutch sausage as her entree, and William had baby sole filets.
