After a day of rest, errands, and laundry, Elaine and William set off on their own to find a place to walk in Bellingham. We had been told there were some fantastic parks, and we found a great one, Whatcom Falls Park.

Our first discovery in Whatcom Falls Park was this cool stone bridge built by the WPA, over the first waterfall on our trek

Yet another waterfall.

Lotsa little waterfalls.

After crossing another bridge a waterfall as viewed from the other side of the stream.

The bridge we had just crossed.

Abandoned railroad trestle.

You can see why it was abandoned.

William takes a picture of the WPA bridge.

It really is a pretty bridge.

We loved the ferns.

Our hiking companion, the nemesis of gardeners everywhere, crossing the trail.

Video of the waterfall as seen from the WPA bridge. We stood and watched it for much longer than the video shows.

These geese put on quite a show for us.

We spent a long time here trying to spot the pileated woodpecker that we could hear but not see. We never found it.

After this glorious walk in the park we went to Bellingham’s harbor area for lunch.
