October 18, 2022: We had breakfast near our residence in the Albaicín neighborhood.
Another view of the Alhambra from the Albaicín
The café where we had breakfast had the best view of the Alhambra from the Albaicín.
Café Quatro Gatos. The hot chocolate there wasn’t great, but the orange juice was spectacular. We met an American tourist nearby, and her daughter who was living in Spain.
We departed for Málaga and the Picasso Museum there. Then we drove on to Sevilla.
This Les Demoiselles d’Avignon is featured prominently in the museum and the museum’s website. It wasn’t until she got close that Elaine realized that she was looking at a tapestry, not Picasso’s painting, which is at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. This tribute tapestry was executed faithfully by another artist.
Early Cubist painting by Picasso
We took a selfy in a replica of Picasso’s atelier.
The museum also took a picture of our visit to the atelier.
In the basement of the museum are Phoenician, Roman, and Nasrid ruins which were discovered during the restoration of the building.
