Here's some art work at the Columbus Circle subway station, from which we embarked for the museum.
The exhibit at the station was named "Hello Columbus".
Here are some exterior shots of the temporary museum. Of course we couldn't take pictures
inside.
We made an obligatory stop at a street peanut vendor - cleaning up just outside the museum.
Here is the subway station near the museum - actually it's an elevated train at this point.
While we were at the museum, we made reservations for lunch at Ye Waverly Inn in Greenwich Village,
a favorite little restaurant the we had been to a number of times before. Here's the building, it's
very unassuming entrance, and us inside.
The Waverly Inn was right across the street from St. Vincent's Hospital, which was where
all the victims from the World Trade Center attack were supposed to be taken - only it turned
out there weren't very many. They have a wall of remembrance on which are posted hundreds of
flyers seeking information about lost loved ones. Across the street from it is a display of
hundreds of ceramic tiles painted by amateur artists from around the world as a fundraising
effort for victims of the attack
It was bitter cold and William had lost his gloves, so we took that as an opportunity to go
to Macy's. Here Elaine in the glove department.
We got back to the hotel, caught a shuttle to the airport, and waited on the runway for two hours
while Northwest Airlines de-iced our wings, and then made it out of New York before the areas
airports were shut down because of the big storm.
