Temple of Athena at Paestum, near Salerno. It’s a Greek temple, supposedly the best preserved one in the entire Mediterranean area. William saw a picture of this in a guidebook before we left for Italy, and decided that we had to see it. Paestum was originally a Greek settlement, but was taken over by the Romans as a colony.

A Brazilian couple asked us to take their picture with the temple, and returned the favor.

When we left Paestum, it started to rain, just in time for us to drive the treacherous road along the Amalfi coast.

The sea at Amalfi was rough.

Ceramic store on the way from Amalfi to Positano. We didn’t get any pictures of Positano because it was already dark and needless to say, still raining.

We had a lovely dinner that evening in Sorrento, at Ristorante Zi’Ntonio
